Our Final Ride Before the Big Trip
June 10, 2008

Kelli and I had our final ride in Rochester before we leave on our big adventure across America. We rode the Douglas Trail and took some photos to document our last easy day on our bikes.
I want to thank everyone who has supported our bike trip with contributions to the Semper Fi Fund and giving us moral support to keep focused on our goal of biking across America. I am happy to report that we have reached our goal of $10,000 raised for wounded or killed veterans and their framilies. Our fundraising will be finished September 1st so if you would still like to contribute to the Semper Fi Fund please use the links at the right of this post or send me an email at nathanflewis@yahoo.com
Also, if you would like to ride with Kelli and I at some point on our trip please let us know. We will be traveling through Owatonna on the 15th of July. If you are interested in meeting up with us in Mankato or Owatonna just let us know by contacting us through the blog or my email address listed above.
Also, please subscribe to our email notification so that you know when we have updated our blog. On our ride we will make daily posts but this would be the easiest way for you to stay in contact with Kelli and I and monitor our bike ride.
Thanks again and Semper FIdelis (Always Faithful)
Nathan and Kelli

Spinning Class
April 9, 2008
My wife and I have been busy trying to get in shape for our bike across America. It has been difficult as the streets in San Diego are crowded with vehicles and drivers who don’t like bike riders. Generally my wife and I stick to the following schedule of working out.
Mondays: 50-60 minute spinning class
Tuesdays: 30-45 minute cross training run
Wednesdays: 50-60 minute moderate bike ride
Thursdays: 45-60 minute moderate bike ride
Fridays: Day off
Saturdays: Long ride between 40-65 miles with the San Diego Bike Club
Sundays: Day off
We try to maintain this training schedule but unfortunately we have both suffered knee injuries from running marathons early in the year. I don’t recommend running a marathon unless you enjoy pain and want to suffer for months after the marathon.
The picture is after I completed a 60 minute spinning workout. I look sick but I’m alright, just out of shape.

This is Nathan and Kelli and we’re testing out our internet blog we will be using on our bike trip. Hopefully this works. Check this page often as we will be updating it regularly throughout the trip. The trek across the country starts in Astoria, Oregon on June 15th and ends on Portsmouth, New Hampshire on August 4th. We are raising money for the Semper Fi Fund and appreciate all the support! Visit www.semperfifund.org for more information. Thank you!!
